How do we LOVE VIOLENTLY? Great Door Ministries has a two prong mission. First, to serve churches and pastors in the US by opening a door for their people to serve on missions trips. Multiple teams each year, filled with people from various churches, travel to Cuba to share the love of God in a local church and neighborhood in Old Havana. Second, through a partnership and strong friendship, GDM collaborates with Los Pinos Nuevos (LPN) Church in Old Havana to feed the elderly. There, we purchase food and deliver a warm meal to 50 elderly in the neighborhood Monday through Friday, every week of every year, literally being an extension of the love of Christ to a forgotten generation.
Forty years ago, Billy Joe and Josephine Hart left southern California to start a work in the jungles of Brazil, South America. These heroes of the faith (who also happen to be Pastor Hart’s parents) started many churches, a Bible Training Center, an orphanage, and eventually a day school to minister to the children and families living in the “favelas” or shanty towns, on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The work continues today with BCO reaching boys and girls with the love of God; feeding, clothing, and raising them up for a life of productivity and purpose instead of hopelessness and despair.
There is extreme poverty and brokenness in the lives of the children and families who are helped by BCO. Violence, unsanitary living conditions, lack of medical care, and hunger are the pervasive realities for those living in Sao Paulo’s favelas, but the light of Christ has drastically transformed the lives of thousands of these precious Brazilians through the dedicated work of Brazilian Children’s Outreach through the years. Eagle’s Nest Worship Center is honored to support such an amazing ministry each month.
Dr. Sam and Flo Sasser took the Gospel to the people of the Marshall Islands in 1960 and God used them to usher in an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in this tiny Micronesian country that is legendary. Almost fifty years later, the work continues with dozens of churches thriving in the Marshall Islands, Samoa, and all over the South Pacific as a result of the Sasser’s labor. They also established and directed Calvary Bible Institute, a Bible training school there. Currently, Flo Sasser ministers to the Marshall Islands by translating important materials into the Marshallese language, by serving as an advisor and apostle to the churches in the islands, and by traveling both nationally and internationally bringing awareness to the needs of the Marshallese people. Through monthly support and special projects, Eagle’s Nest Worship Center continues to invest into the Marshall Islands through Flo Sasser’s ministry.
For thirty years, Pastor Bill Wilson and his Metro World Child team have lived and ministered in one of Brooklyn’s roughest neighborhoods, the Bushwick community, most commonly known for its history of gang violence, crime, drugs, and poverty. Metro currently hosts the world’s largest Sunday School ministering the Gospel to over 30,000 children every week! Eagle’s Nest Worship Center has been a long time partner with Pastor Bill and Metro in monthly support and special projects.
Our giving to Metro has global impact as well as Metro is also embedded in the worst and most dangerous areas of the Philippines, South Africa, and Romania where children by the thousands flock to Sidewalk Sunday School with every child receives a follow-up visit weekly. Eagle’s Nest is proud to support Metro World Child and we are doubly blessed as Pastor Bill is a dear friend of this house and preaches in our pulpit every year.
Pastors Gary and Charlotte Cook minister in Belarus and Lithuania, both countries that were once part of the former Soviet Union. This is a spiritually and physically difficult area of the world, yet the Cooks have established a church, Bible school, and a ministry to orphanages and hospitals in both these countries. Save the Humans International is on the front lines of meeting both the spiritual and practical needs of people. They spearhead powerful spirit filled churches, train pastors and leaders, lead many to salvation in Christ while feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and embracing the marginalized. Eagle’s Nest Worship Center has long supported the Cooks on a monthly basis as they press into one of the world’s darkest regions with the light of the Gospel.
Eagle’s Nest Worship Center is proud to be a monthly supporter of the various ministries of Bishop Phillip Karanja of Nairobi, in Kenya, on the continent of Africa. Located right in the middle of the slums of Nairobi, children as young as nine years old come from the streets and into the safe haven of Victory Times Ministry where they find food, schooling, and the love of God. Most of these children are already drug addicts; they are all mostly hungry, abandoned, and abused. The safe haven Victory Times Ministry provides a place where their hearts are changed and lives transformed by the love of Christ. Bishop Karanja also oversees many churches where the Good News of Jesus Christ is being preached in Islamic and spiritualist strongholds. This is a ministry bringing the light of Christ straight into some of the spiritually darkest places in the world and witnessing the results that God is mighty to save!
